Hello, I’m Cath. With over 30 years of experience in teaching I have worked with children from ages 3 to 18. Working mainly in leadership and safeguarding roles has provided me with an in-depth understanding of the overwhelming challenges some children face in mainstream education. In dealing with young people and their families, sometimes in difficult circumstances, I am able to quickly build trusting relationships and identify appropriate support where it is needed. Finding creative solutions to allow every child to experience success has been at the heart of my professional career. Starting with each young person and listening to them to understand how they experience the world allows me to deliver a wide range of relevant opportunities.
In my experience, learning becomes memorable when it is fun and has real-life meaning. So you might see me working out a maths puzzle but you’re more likely to find me sewing, gardening or baking cakes.
I passionately believe that there are skills and talents in every individual, leading to them having life-long opportunities. Some young people need additional time, space and nurture for those talents to bloom, which is what Insight brings to each child who joins us.
I'm Lorna and creativity has always been at the heart of who I am. With over 20 years of experience in education, I’ve had the privilege of supporting children and young people to grow in confidence, develop their strengths and find enjoyment in learning through Art.
My background includes leading Art and Photography in mainstream education and teaching students aged 9–18, including GCSE and A Level. More recently, I’ve specialised in delivering art intervention sessions for students with SEND, with very high levels of anxiety and those who benefit from a more personalised, nurturing approach to education. Seeing young people engage, express themselves and flourish through creativity has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
As a parent to two young children, I value the importance of connection, curiosity and creating environments where children feel safe, understood and able to be themselves. I love spending time outdoors with my family and believe that nature, creativity and hands-on experiences can provide powerful opportunities for learning and growth. My aim is always to create a calm, welcoming space where every child feels valued and supported to thrive in their own unique way.
Hi, I’m Rachael, a qualified teacher and SENCo with over 15 years experience supporting children and young people across a wide range of needs. My career has allowed me to work academically, pastorally and within SEND, giving me a strong understanding of the barriers some young people face in education.
Much of my work has focused on supporting those with EHCPs, additional learning needs and health needs. Working closely with families and professionals has reinforced the importance of seeing each young person as an individual and shaping support around their strengths, needs and aspirations.
I have worked with many young people who have found traditional education challenging, particularly when they needed a learning environment that could respond more flexibly to who they are. These experiences have shown me that meaningful progress begins with relationships, trust and a genuine sense of belonging. My practice is rooted in trauma‑informed and attachment‑aware approaches, recognising how a young person’s experiences and environment can shape their ability to engage and feel successful.
The most rewarding part of my work is seeing young people recognise their strengths, build confidence, and experience success in ways that matter to them. I’m excited to be part of a provision that values creativity, individuality, and truly personalised support.
Our Story
Our story began with a simple belief: that every young person deserves an education where they feel understood, safe and able to succeed. After years of working in schools, leadership roles and SEND support, we saw too many children slipping through the gaps — not because they lacked ability, but because they needed something different. Something calmer. Something more creative. Something more relational.
With over 60 years of teaching experience between us, we created our provision to be exactly that.
What started as a shared vision between experienced teachers and a SENCo with a passion for inclusive, trauma‑informed practice has become a nurturing space where young people aged 8–16 can reconnect with learning at their own pace. Our backgrounds in art, leadership and SEND shaped the foundation of what we do: combining creativity with therapeutic, attachment‑aware approaches to help young people feel safe enough to learn again.
From the beginning, we wanted to build a place that felt personal - where relationships come first, where routines are predictable and where every young person is genuinely seen. Our workshops, small groups and sensory‑friendly spaces were designed with this in mind. Our curriculum brings together art‑based workshops, English, Maths, Life Skills + and Social Skills, all delivered in a way that supports confidence, communication and self‑regulation.
We work closely with families, schools and local services because we know that supporting a young person is a team effort.
And although we are a new provision, our purpose is rooted in decades of experience and a genuine passion for helping young people with SEND reach their full potential.
